Turn a Few Hours a Week into a Lifetime of Confidence

Dear Reader,

Life’s generally easier for the confident man. You’ll recognize the type.

He’s the one looking straight ahead instead of at the sidewalk, as you walk down the crowded New York City street. He’s not cocky or aggressive, but he’s not timid either. He is prepared and he is unafraid.

This man knows how to handle himself and protect his loved ones in any situation. He is in command of his day, and not the other way around. There is something different about him – something unmistakable.

Stop for a second, and be honest with yourself...

Do you have the confidence to succeed in life?

Is this how others would describe you?

If not, go ahead, read on...

Achieve Confidence Through Discipline
Every day you wake up, you go to work, you come home, and you repeat.

There’s more than one way to break up this monotony. For example, we can cram our face with junk food, take more breaks than we deserve at work, and watch three hours of television each night.

While these habits may soften the monotony, they’ll run your self- confidence into the ground. Lucky for you, there’s another way.

We Are New York Martial Arts Academy
And we instill confidence. We break up a monotonous existence by allowing you to do something for you. We introduce people to our brand of a positive lifestyle.

New York Martial Arts Academy (NYMAA) has four New York locations. Here’s what we can do that no one else can. This is what makes us truly different than the hundreds of other Martial Arts studios scattered around the city:

• NYMAA teaches Jeet Kune Do, the Martial Art that Bruce Lee developed. We are the only school within the Tri-State area authorized by the Bruce Lee Foundation to teach it. Not only that, but you can learn this art through the teachings of second and third-generation Bruce Lee students at the New York Martial Arts Academy.

NYMAA opened in 1985. Each of our instructors has more than a decade of martial arts experience – and some have significantly more than that. In fact, our lead instructor has 46 years of martial arts experience. You will learn from those who have made the Martial Arts a true, lifelong passion and calling.

You will learn all aspects of Jeet Kune Do (mind, body, spirit). You will develop friendships, and a common respect for your fellow martial artists.

As you take our classes, you will be surrounded by people just like you – People who are eager to learn more about the art, do something to make their lives better, and become physically fit in the process.

We have taught more than 10,500 students in 30 plus years of business.
We were also voted the most outstanding martial arts school in America at the MP Power Summit, the largest Martial Arts convention in America.

Our adult classes help you:
  • Find inner confidence
  • Instill a sense of calm
  • Be happy
  • Get fit
  • Stay prepared
All this can be yours by investing just a few hours a week. Put in the work, come to learn, and the results will be worth it. One other thing
worth mentioning – you do this in a completely safe environment. Our experienced instructors are developing their workouts and lessons with injury prevention in mind.

You’ll also be in the company of a great group of supportive and nice people every time you work out.

The First Step to Self Improvement
Most of us hurriedly carry on from one event to the next. We bring work home, and we bring home to work. Maybe we’re all too often buried in our phones, or obsessed with the latest news story. Wherever we are, we’re not quite there.

So how do we find a little calm in this ever-crazier world? The Martial Arts instill a peace of mind and highlight the benefit of positive lifestyle changes.

Do you want to become a better version of yourself? What about that version that comes into focus when you close your eyes and imagine the future, but doesn’t always mesh with reality?

The Martial Arts can help.

You Will Get Better at Self Defense
There is a science behind everything you learn at NYMAA. Not only will you learn proper technique, but we’ll talk about the purposes behind what we do.

You Will Learn:
  • The proper way to generate force.
  • The proper techniques and kinetics for punches, kicks, grappling,
  • trapping, and weapons training.
  • The best self-defense positioning, punches, kicks, and grabs.
Our Students Have Spoken
The benefits of the Martial Arts lifestyle are plentiful, and I could go on forever about them – but you don’t have to take it just from me.
What about the other people who have been part of our program? Let’s let them do the talking. Below are a few stories you’ll want to pay attention to...

Testimonials
“These guys really know their stuff! The passion and love that the instructors have for the art, and their knowledge of everything Bruce Lee absolutely amazed me. I knew I found my home. Even before my introductory lesson began, I made up my mind that I was going to sign up. All the instructors are kind and respectful. They have a deep- rooted love for Bruce Lee, and posses an understanding of his art that I have not seen anywhere else.

The students are crazy about the art as well, and you'll never meet a friendlier group of people. If you are looking to learn Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do, the way Bruce Lee taught it, then this is the place you need to be. The knowledge that the instructors have, and the way that they convey it, is priceless. The path or lineage from instructor, to Ted Wong, to Bruce Lee, is a privilege. One really could not ask for more. But there actually is more. New York Martial Arts Academy is more than just a school. It has become a home, with family and friends that I will have for life.

When you see the way the instructors move, you know they are good at what they do. It's very inspiring, because you have the
knowledge that with time and effort, you can be that good too. My only regret with the New York Martial Arts Academy, is having not found it sooner. Take my word for it, if you're serious about
learning real Jeet Kune Do, come check out the school. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.”

- Garvin Hyatt

“I have been a student at New York Martial Arts Academy for over three years. It is an excellent environment to train and learn the martial arts. The instructors are very accommodating and provide first- rate instruction for students of every level. The head instructor, Sifu Dino Orfanos, is a highly skilled and dedicated Jeet Kune Do practitioner with a vast amount of experience teaching the martial arts.

His teachings in the art, science, and philosophy of Jeet Kune Do are always easy to comprehend and apply. The senior students are also very knowledgeable. They are helpful and assist in the development process of the students. I would highly recommend this school for anyone interested in learning Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do.”

- Attorney at Law and NY Martial Arts Academy Student

Those associated with Bruce Lee have also been thrilled with the authenticity and strength of our program.

“With over 20 years experience in Jeet Kune Do, I consider Dino Orfanos to be one of the finest instructors of Bruce Lee’s art and philosophy. The epitome of professionalism, Dino is a knowledgeable, skilled, and passionate teacher who made it his mission to teach the totality of JKD while remaining true to the original spirit and vision with which Bruce Lee felt his art should be perpetuated.

In addition to his expertise in Jeet Kune Do, Dino is a certified full instructor in the Filipino Martial Arts of Kali and Escrima. I am honored to not only have Dino as an official representative for my organization, but also as a close personal friend.

- Chris Kent (Co-founder of Bruce Lee Educational Foundation and author of four of the highest rated books on JKD)
