NY Martial Arts Academy was the first Womens Kickboxing school in the tri-state area to be recognized by the Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do Nucleus (an organization established to preserve and perpetuate the art that Bruce Lee developed). This Womens Kickboxing organization consisted of Bruce Lee's wife, daughter, first generation and second generation students. This organization and our school have a common purpose to promote the art, science and philosophy of the founder of JKD (Bruce Lee). We are one of the only Womens Kickboxing schools on the East Coast to teach Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do in Bronx NY.
Over three decades before the advent of "Mixed Martial Arts", a revolutionary art training process was developed by the legendary Bruce Lee. This art advanced the principles of "totality" in martial art training with "realistic" and scientific training methods, and "complete freedom" for the individual practitioner. Lee named the cutting edge martial art training process he developed "Jeet Kune Do." This training process forms the foundation of what is taught at NY Martial Arts Academy, located in the Bronx NY area.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu teaches a practitioner to go to the ground and try to submit. What happens if there are multiple attackers or weapons involved? Lastly, classes are taught without the traditional Judo/ Jiu Jitsu Gi because it is more realistic for the streets in Bronx.Womens Kickboxing
Bruce Lee's governing principles are alive in all of our JKD grappling. Simply mixing martial arts is not Jeet Kune Do and sport martial arts that are being commonly taught are simply not made for the streets.
